\u00abThe guitar is related to the repertoire of the lute and the vihuela as the piano is to the harpsichord or organ. This magical instrument, as Stravinsky said referring to Andr\u00e9s Segovia\u2019s guitar \u201csounds little, but goes far\u201d; has given me the opportunity to immerse myself in the works of great and historical composers such as those recorded in ‘Ancient Mosaic with Guitar’. I consider it a privilege to be able to receive through their scores, the sensitivity of such maestros.<\/p>\n

The works of Reusner, Milan, Roncalli, etc, sound good on the modern Spanish guitar, a direct descendant of all those old instruments for which they were written. I just had to play them freely and with respect, feeling them as part of the guitar and without trying to make them sound as anything other than what they intrinsically are.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 …\u00bb<\/p>\n

El \u00e1lbum Mosaico antiguo con guitarra<\/strong> (Ancient Mosaic with Guitar) es obra de Esteban Canyar<\/strong>, guitarrista cl\u00e1sico y fundador del Ensemble La R\u00eaverie<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Junto con la soprano y music\u00f3loga Palmira Irisarri <\/strong>interpreta cantos de amor <\/strong>y desamor <\/strong>as\u00ed como hermosas piezas instrumentales<\/strong>, todos compuestos por\u00a0 compositores\u00a0 <\/strong>y grandes instrumentistas renacentistas <\/strong>y barrocos<\/strong>.
\nLos dos artistas consiguen transmitir el esp\u00edritu y la magia de los temas originales, sintiendo y expresando con respeto, pero libremente, lo que aquellos compositores crearon en su d\u00eda, sin recurrir a instrumentos de la \u00e9poca ni pretender recrear las piezas hist\u00f3ricamente.<\/p>\n

Las obras de Luis <\/strong>Mil\u00e1n<\/strong>, Luis de <\/strong>Narv\u00e1ez<\/strong>, John <\/strong>Dowland<\/strong>, Esaias <\/strong>Reusner<\/strong>, Antonio Ludovico <\/strong>Roncalli <\/strong>y Johann Sebastian Bach<\/strong> suenan muy bien en la guitarra espa\u00f1ola<\/strong>, heredera directa de la antigua vihuela y del la\u00fad centroeuropeo -instrumentos para los que fueron escritas las piezas-. Esteban Canyar la toca con gran sensibilidad y maestr\u00eda expresiva<\/strong>, acompa\u00f1ado en las canciones por la dulce voz de Palmira Irisarri.<\/p>\n

Los villancicos y sonetos que interpretan los artistas -y cuyas letras figuran en el libreto<\/strong> del \u00e1lbum- provienen de dos tesoros de la m\u00fasica espa\u00f1ola<\/strong>, el \u2018Libro de m\u00fasica de vihuela de mano intitulado El Maestro<\/strong>\u2018, escrito por el gran vihuelista Mil\u00e1n, y de \u2018Los seys Libros del Delphin, de m\u00fasica de cifra para ta\u00f1er vihuela<\/strong>\u2018, del maestro granadino Narv\u00e1ez. Este \u00faltimo tambi\u00e9n transcribi\u00f3 a su instrumento la obra \u2018Mille regretz\u2019 de Josquin, favorita de Carlos V., la c\u00e9lebre \u2018Canci\u00f3n del Emperador\u2019, que destaca entre las piezas instrumentales.
\nEl conjunto se completa con obras de prestigiosos compositores centroeuropeos y con una improvisaci\u00f3n sobre \u2018Quant voie la flor nouvelle\u2019, retazo de melod\u00eda de un trobador<\/strong> medieval desconocido.<\/p>\n

The album Ancient Mosaic with Guitar<\/strong> (Mosaico antiguo con guitarra ) is the work of\u00a0 Esteban Canyar<\/strong>, classical guitarist<\/span> and founder of the<\/span> Ensemble<\/span><\/span> La R\u00eaverie<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Together with Palmira<\/strong> Irisarri<\/strong>,\u00a0 soprano and musicologist, they interpret songs of<\/span> love and heartbreak<\/span><\/strong> and beautiful<\/span> instrumental pieces<\/span><\/strong>, written<\/span> by great<\/span> instrumentalists<\/span> and <\/span><\/span>composers of the <\/span><\/span>Renaissance<\/strong> and Baroque<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The works of Luis <\/strong>Mil\u00e1n<\/strong>, Luis de <\/strong>Narv\u00e1ez<\/strong>, John <\/strong>Dowland<\/strong>, Esaias <\/strong>Reusner<\/strong>, Antonio Ludovico <\/strong>Roncalli <\/strong>and Johann Sebastian Bach<\/strong>, etc, sound good on the modern Spanish guitar<\/strong>, a direct descendant of the Spanish vihuela and the European lute\u00a0 for which the pieces were written. Esteban Canyar performs the music with great<\/span> sensitivity<\/span> and expressive<\/span> <\/strong>mastery<\/strong>,<\/span>\u00a0accompanied<\/span> in the songs\u00a0 by<\/span> the sweet voice of<\/span> Palmira<\/span> Irisarri<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The villancicos and sonetos of this album are from two treasures of Spanish music, the books ‘Libro de m\u00fasica de vihuela de mano intitulado El Maestro<\/strong>‘,\u00a0 written by the renowned vihuelist Mil\u00e1n, and the opus ‘Los seys Libros del Delphin, de m\u00fasica de cifra para ta\u00f1er vihuela<\/strong>‘, written by the magistral musician Narv\u00e1ez of Grenade.
\nThe set is completed by instrumental pieces of centroeuropean composers, like the \u00abEmperor’s Song<\/strong>\u00bb (Mille regretz,\u00a0 the favorite melody of Charles V. composed by Josquin) and one \u201cImprovisation about Quand voie\u201d based on a familiar melody in the repertoire of the troubadours \u201cQuand voie la flor nouvelle\u201d<\/strong>, anonymous. This work is a recreation of the original, but with a completely modern interpretation and newly composed parts by Esteban Canyar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
